Purpose and objectives of transfer payment program

Participant Funding provides funding to facilitate:

  • participation in public hearings under section 52 or subsection 241(3) of the Canadian Energy Regulator Act and any steps leading to those hearings.
  • participation of Indigenous Peoples of Canada and Indigenous organizations in Crown related activities that further reconciliation based on recognition of rights, respect, co-operation and partnerships.

The objective of Participant Funding is to provide funding to facilitate participation and Crown Consultation which supports the CER in ensuring that regulatory hearings and decision-making are fair, inclusive, transparent and efficient.

Participant funding contributions are non-repayable as they are intended to reimburse the actual costs of participating and are not made to for-profit businesses to generate profits or increase the value of the businesses.

Recipients of contributions have the opportunity to provide feedback on the claim form. Grant recipients are sent a feedback survey. Responses are compiled quarterly and reported against DRF measure I4.
