CSA Z662-11 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems

Basis for Issuance

The Canadian Standards Association recently published and released to the general public the latest version of CSA Z662-11 Oil and Gas Pipeline Systems.

Background

Pursuant to the provisions of Section 1 and Paragraph 4(1)(d) of the Onshore Pipelines Regulations, 1999 the latest version of this standard is incorporated by reference into the regulations and comes into force as of the date of publication and release to the general public, 8 July 2011.

NEB Expectations

As there are significant changes and additions to the standard, the NEB expects that companies will review the latest version of CSA Z662-11 and take the steps necessary to ensure compliance with its provisions as soon as practical.

For applications currently before the NEB, companies will be expected to provide further information regarding how the project will comply with CSA Z662-11.
