The Board administers a Participant Funding Program (PFP), which provides financial assistance to individuals, Indigenous groups, landowners, and non-industry not-for-profit groups to facilitate public participation in certain project hearings and environmental assessments of designated projects.
On 27 February 2018, the National Energy Board announced $250,000 to assist individuals and groups with their participation in the hearing for the Spruce Ridge Program. The PFP recommended awards for three First Nations to assist them in their ability to provide submissions to the Board. The Executive Vice President, Regulatory approved the recommendation. Indigenous groups account for 100% of the funding awarded.
