Project Information
NOVA Gas Transmission Ltd. (NGTL) filed its regulatory application for the Wolverine River Lateral Loop (Carmon Creek Section) Project on 25 March 2014. The project, if approved, would be located in the northwestern part of Alberta, and would involve the construction and operation of a new sweet natural gas pipeline measuring up to 508 mm (20 inches) in width. Approximately 56 km of the total 61 km pipeline would be built alongside existing linear uses.

Process Advisory Team - Support to Hearing Participants
The NEB has assigned a Process Advisory Team for this project. The Process Advisor’s role is to support the public (e.g., landowners, concerned citizens, environmental non-governmental organizations) and the Aboriginal groups that are participating in public hearings.

Participant Funding Program
The NEB will make funds available under its Participant Funding Program (PFP) to assist directly affected persons to participate in the regulatory process of the Wolverine River Lateral Loop (Carmon Creek Section) Pipeline Project proposed by NGTL.

The Board has identified but does not limit itself to the following issues for consideration in the proceeding:
- The need for the proposed Project.
- The economic feasibility of the proposed Project.
- The potential commercial impacts of the proposed Project.
- The potential environmental and socio-economic effects of the proposed Project, including those to be considered under the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act, 2012.
- The appropriateness of the general route and land requirements for the proposed Project.
- The engineering design and integrity of the proposed Project.
- Potential impacts of the proposed Project on Aboriginal interests.
- Contingency planning, including emergency response planning, for releases or spills, accidents or malfunctions, during construction and operation of the Project.
- The terms and conditions to be included in any approval or recommendation.
