Canadian Standards Association Group Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry Standards now available for free online access
Along with our colleagues in the Western Regulators Forum (WRF), the Canada Energy Regulator (CER) has been working on an initiative with the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) Group to allow Canadians free online access to CSA technical standards. These standards are now available at no cost to all industry personnel and contractors, and the general public.
Several CSA standards are referenced in the Canadian Energy Regulator Onshore Pipeline Regulations, including CSA Z662 – Oil and gas pipeline systems, which outlines minimum requirements related to a pipeline's design, construction, operation, maintenance, deactivation, and abandonment. All of the CSA Group’s Petroleum and Natural Gas Industry Standards are now available for Canadians to access and download at no cost from the CSA website.
The WRF is made up of the CER, BC Energy Regulator (BCER), Alberta Energy Regulator (AER), the Saskatchewan Ministry of Energy and Resources (MER Saskatchewan) and the Office of the Regulator of Oil and Gas in the Northwest Territories. The CER, BCER, AER and MER Saskatchewan are providing a financial contribution for a one-year period to provide Canadians this free online access. Future access, after this initial one-year period, will be assessed based on feedback from users and metrics on access and usage, as well as costs and budget implications.
The CER wishes to thank the Western Regulators Forum and the CSA Group for their collaboration in making these important standards accessible to Canadians at no cost.
Thank you in advance for sharing this initiative with your peers, employees, and contractors.
Best regards,
Signed by
Gitane De Silva
