Associate General Counsel – Laurel Sherret
Biographical Snapshot:
- Laurel has been Associate General Counsel since August 2020.
- Laurel served as Vice President, Chief of Staff and Corporate Secretary for the CER from May 2022 to May 2023. Laurel joined the CER as legal counsel in 2013, working in all facets of administrative, Aboriginal, compliance and enforcement, internal services, and environmental law.
- Prior to joining the CER, Laurel worked in multiple roles at the International Criminal Court (The Hague), clerked at the Ontario Superior Court of Justice (Toronto), served with the UN Refugee Agency (New Delhi), and worked and published as a consultant on gender equality, human rights, and human security.

Associate General Counsel – Keerat Sidhu
Biographical Snapshot:
- Keerat became Associate General Counsel in April 2024, having joined the regulator in 2010.
- Prior to this, Keerat served as legal counsel and acting Associate General Counsel from April 2022 to May 2023. Keerat’s career has focused on energy infrastructure projects, financial regulation, compensation applications, and greenhouse gas regulation.
- Prior to joining the regulator, Keerat worked as a litigator in Calgary and Vancouver and appeared before trial and appellant courts as well as administrative tribunals.
