NEB's regulatory oversight continues as the Enbridge incident stabilizes
October 13, 2018
The NEB's regulatory oversight continues as the Enbridge incident stabilizes and the safety of the public, property and the environment are no longer at immediate risk.
The NEB’s focus is now transitioning from emergency response to overseeing the company's proposed repair plans for the safe re-start and operation of the 36 inch line in compliance with the NEB's Inspection Officer Order and NEB requirements.
Safety, engineering and environmental technical specialists and Inspection Officers will be on-site during the key stages of upcoming work that will be done by the company. This includes ensuring that the company properly cleans up the site.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB) is the agency responsible for conducting the incident investigation looking into the cause and contributing factors of the incident. For additional information see the TSB’s Pipeline Investigation P18H0088.
